HELIO is not a tool for styling HMIs, but rather a system that centrally controls design, themes, and layouts. Minor adjustments can be made via the “Style” tab, such as primary colors and fonts, but individual changes to the design are not possible. For extensive customization, HELIO works with design tokens that are centrally defined and controlled.
In Figma, all design-related properties—such as colors, sizes, or spacing—are stored as tokens. A plugin in Figma allows these token settings and definitions to be exported as a JSON file. This file can be imported directly using the “Import Theme” button. All adjustments are then applied centrally and affect the entire HMI, not just individual elements.
HELIO thus offers a structural and scalable solution for controlling themes consistently and efficiently. Designers can quickly create new variants on this basis, while developers ensure that all changes are implemented consistently in the system. HELIO enables maximum customizability, central control, and high efficiency—without the need for time-consuming manual styling of the HMI. Learn more in the video for Design Tokens.
