From Wire to Screw – Efficient Machine Operation with HELIO Metal Forming / WAFIOS Umformtechnik GmbH
WAFIOS Umformtechnik GmbH, based in Wuppertal, is one of the world’s leading mechanical engineering companies serving the wire processing industry. WAFIOS Umformtechnik develops, designs, and manufactures technically sophisticated machines and solutions that are indispensable in the construction and automotive industries, among others. At the “wire and Tube” 2026 trade fair in Düsseldorf, WAFIOS Umformtechnik presented its first, newly designed user interface based on HELIO.
AI with the HELIO SDK
The AI feature “myWAFIOS.ai” developed by WAFIOS AG, was integrated into WAFIOS Umformtechnik’s proprietary machine operating concept using the HELIO SDK as part of a group-wide rollout. The artificial intelligence assists operators with machine knowledge and provides support for questions regarding issues such as setup, troubleshooting, and tool changes. HELIO’s open and flexible architecture also offers a quick overview of system performance and efficiency, an intuitive user interface, and can be operated in both Light and Dark modes. WAFIOS Umformtechnik uses the ctrlX platform with HELIO from the ctrlX Store.

Flexible Automation Platform with ctrlX OS and HELIO
WAFIOS Umformtechnik uses the ctrlX platform with HELIO from the ctrlX Store. Thanks to the open architecture of ctrlX AUTOMATION, software solutions such as HELIO can be flexibly integrated into existing machine and production environments. This enables WAFIOS Umformtechnik to efficiently expand its digital processes and roll out new features more quickly.
