FAQ
What is Helio?
HELIO is a modern visualization system based on web technology to create powerful & responsive HMIs for industrial machines. It consists of four main building blocks:
HELIO Runtime
The runtime is the only software that needs to run on the target device during operation. It delivers the HMIs and communicates solely with the PLC – without any connection to the internet.
HELIO HMIs
The HMIs bundle our many years of industry knowledge into industry-standard components and pages e.g. dashboards, parameter pages, messaging & alarming, user management and much more.
HELIO Development Environment (Cloud)
To ensure that you and your colleagues can collaborate on HMIs easily, without having to install extensive software on your development computers, the HELIO Development Environment is also 100% web-based.
It features a no-code editor that enables machine manufacturers and PLC experts to create easy-to-use interfaces for industrial controllers - without any programming effort.
HELIO Development Environment (On Device)
An offline development environment is automatically included in each HELIO Runtime. Thus you can also make changes to the configuration after the commissioning or maintenance – the correct version of the development environment is always included.
When and where can you experience HELIO live?
- At the SPS Smart Production Solutions from 08. - 10.11.2022 in Nuremberg, Hall 7 / 420
Is there a demo version available?
We are working under high pressure on the HELIO public release. In the meantime, we ask for your patience and will be happy to show interested parties the current status in a personal meeting - contact us.
What hardware and software is necessary to run HELIO?
HELIO Runtime
- Operating systems: Windows, Linux, macOS
- Memory: at least 1 GB
- Processor: ARM (64-bit) or Intel
HELIO HMIs
- Operating systems: Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android
- Browser: Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge
HELIO Development Environment
- Operating systems: Windows, Linux, macOS
- Browser: Chrome, Microsoft Edge
How does the HELIO Runtime communicate with a PLC?
HELIO currently supports the following protocols for accessing machine control systems:
- OPC UA
- MQTT
- Codesys
How does HELIO protect my data?
Security and data protection are just as important to us as a great usability. We made many architectural decisions consciously to protect your data and control systems in the best possible way.
The HELIO Runtime –
100% Offline-Capable and Self-Sufficient
The runtime is the only software that needs to run on the target device during operation. It delivers the HMIs and communicates solely with the PLC – without any connection to the internet. The data generated during operation such as the historization of control values is also saved securely on the target device.
The HELIO Development Environment –
Web-Based Collaboration With The Highest Demands On Data Security
To ensure that you and your colleagues can collaborate on HMIs easily, without having to install extensive software on your development computers, the HELIO Development Environment is also 100% web-based. You simply run it right in your browser. Your project data is stored securely in Germany, so it is subject to the strict data protection guidelines of the EU.
Once the development of the HMI is completed, only the HELIO Runtime is installed on the target device and the project configuration is transferred from the development environment to the device. After that, the machine is completely self-contained.
